Cilantro

By Kimberley Eggleston, About.com

Definition:

Cilantro is an herb which looks very similar to a bunch of parsley, though is quite a bit stronger in flavor. The leaves are tender, small, and bright green when fresh, and are used widely in Latin and Asian cuisines.

Cilantro actually consists of the leaves of the coriander plant, while the coriander seeds themselves are used as a spice. Cilantro can be used in a variety of ways such as in salsa, soups, and stews just to name a few.

Pronunciation: sil-lan-tro
Also Known As: Chinese Parsley, coriander
